Broken Hill Swimming Club is committed to offering a quality 'Learn to Swim' Program. We aim to develop the skills of all swimmers with WATER SAFETY being an integral part of our lessons. We currently have three instructors fully Accredited as Austswim teachers of Swimming and Water Safety, and four soon to be qualified instructors, who are undergoing the practical component of this course.
'Learn to Swim' is held on a Saturday morning with the first class commencing at 8.00a.m. These lessons are held while the older swimmers are warming up or competing at pointscore; this enables the children to see competitive swimmers in action. We encourage children to progress through our 'Learn to Swim' into our Club's 'Developers group' where they are given more instruction on correct technique and stroke development.
Any parents who would like to get into the water to help us are always appreciated, as are people who can help with packing up equipment at the end of each lesson. 'Learn to Swim' Children have their own presentation morning around March, to recognise their effort and achievements throughout the season. All children who attend 'Learn to Swim' are entitled and encouraged to attend the final presentation morning.
This year all our groups are full and we are not taking any more enrolments. 'Learn to Swim' begans at the start of November and finishes with the presentation morning in March.
Qualified Austswim Instructors Trish Thomas, Kellie Keenan and Julie Baldwin take the groups.
